THE COMPLETE RECOVERY PATHWAY

BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme

Our flagship 7-session psychoeducational intervention provides a structured journey through understanding trauma, recognising triggers and emotional responses, developing practical coping and regulation tools, and building resilience for the future.

Created by Mayameen Meftahi BEM, the BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme is grounded in lived experience and professional practice. It focuses on understanding what trauma does, rather than asking people to disclose or revisit what happened to them.

The programme is delivered through supported self-study, allowing participants to work through each session at their own pace, followed by a dedicated 1:1 reflective debrief, available online via Zoom or face-to-face.

✓ 7 structured learning sessions
✓ Comprehensive self-help workbook
✓ Practical regulation and recovery tools
✓ 1:1 reflective debrief on completion
✓ ACCPH recognised • 15 CPD points

Recover. Learn. Achieve.

The BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme is more than a personal recovery journey. On successful completion, participants receive an ACCPH-accredited certificate carrying 15 CPD points, recognising the learning and development undertaken throughout the programme.

This means participants don’t simply leave with greater understanding and practical tools for managing trauma — they also leave with recognised evidence of learning and achievement that can contribute to their personal and professional development.

The certificate can be added to a CV, professional development record or learning portfolio, helping participants recognise that their recovery journey has also built knowledge, skills and achievement they can carry forward.

MORE THAN SEVEN SESSIONS

A Structured Psychoeducational Recovery Intervention

BeyondTrauma™ is not simply a collection of trauma information or wellbeing exercises. The seven sessions have been intentionally structured to take participants from understanding what trauma does, through recognising their own responses and developing practical regulation strategies, towards acceptance, resilience and maintaining recovery beyond the programme.

Participants learn about the relationship between trauma, the brain, adrenaline, triggers, anxiety, emotional numbing, anger and coping responses — helping experiences that can feel confusing or overwhelming begin to make sense.

That understanding is then translated into practice. Throughout the programme, participants are introduced to regulation techniques, coping strategies, somatic practices, reflective exercises and practical tools that they can experiment with and continue using in everyday life.

Crucially, BeyondTrauma™ does this without requiring participants to tell their trauma story. The focus is not on asking “What happened to you?” but on helping people understand “What may be happening within me now — and what can I do with that understanding?”

PROGRESS

Recovery Beyond the Sessions

Accessible psychoeducation helps participants understand trauma responses, the brain, adrenaline, triggers and patterns that may previously have felt confusing or unexplained.

Structured reflection helps participants recognise their own responses and patterns without requiring disclosure or detailed exploration of traumatic events.

Participants explore breathing retraining, regulation strategies, coping mechanisms, somatic practices and other tools they can continue to use beyond the programme.

The later learning brings together acceptance, self-esteem, relapse awareness, recovery and resilience — supporting participants to consider how they maintain what they have learned after completion.

Accessing the BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme

Recovery Should Be Accessible

The BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme is a complete supported psychoeducational recovery pathway, combining seven structured sessions, a comprehensive workbook, practical recovery tools and a dedicated 1:1 reflective debrief, available online via Zoom or face-to-face.

The full supported self-study programme is normally £497 and is currently available at a standard self-funded rate of £297.

We also recognise that financial circumstances can be one of the barriers to accessing trauma recovery support. To make the programme more accessible, we offer a self-funded sliding scale, allowing participants to choose the contribution level that best reflects their circumstances.

Whichever rate you choose, you receive exactly the same programme, learning resources, 1:1 reflective debrief and ACCPH-recognised completion carrying 15 CPD points.

Fully Funded Places

BeyondTrauma Academy CIC also works with funders, commissioners and community partners to provide fully funded access to the BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme for eligible participants.

The Programme Doesn't Change Because It's Funded

Whether you access BeyondTrauma™ through a self-funded place, our sliding scale or an eligible funded opportunity, you receive the same high-quality core Recovery Programme.

Funding simply removes the financial barrier — it does not reduce the quality or value of the programme.

Funded places are subject to individual project eligibility, location, availability and funding criteria.

National Lottery Funded Places — Global Majority Women

We currently have a limited number of fully funded supported self-study places remaining through our National Lottery-funded provision for women from Global Majority communities, including Black, Asian and other racially minoritised backgrounds.

Eligible women can access the complete BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme at no cost to themselves, including the full seven-session programme, workbook, 1:1 reflective debrief and ACCPH-recognised completion carrying 15 CPD points.

Stockport — Coming Soon

A new funded pathway for women in Stockport, Greater Manchester will also be opening soon through our Trauma to Opportunity: Stockport Women’s Employability & Leadership Pathway.

This will combine trauma recovery learning with opportunities to support participants in moving forward into greater community connection, confidence, skills, volunteering and progression.

Registration will open soon.

You Don't Have To Tell Your Story To Understand Your Trauma. BeyondTrauma™ focuses on understanding the impact of trauma, not requiring people to recount what happened to them. Participants can learn, reflect and develop practical recovery tools without being asked to disclose or revisit traumatic experiences.

FOCUSED LEARNING • YOUR OWN PACE

Self-Study Trauma Modules

Sometimes you may want to explore one particular aspect of trauma and recovery rather than complete the full programme. Our standalone self-study modules provide focused psychoeducational learning, practical tools and reflective resources that you can access independently and work through at your own pace.

These modules draw on learning from the BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme and can also be used by programme graduates who want to revisit a particular area.

Standalone modules are self-directed learning resources. They include a self-development certificate but do not include the 1:1 reflective debrief or ACCPH-validated completion certificate provided through the full BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme.

INTERACTIVE LEARNING • GUIDED CONVERSATION

UNPACK Workshops

Some things are easier to understand when we have space to unpack them together.

UNPACK is BeyondTrauma Academy CIC’s interactive workshop series, creating accessible spaces to explore trauma, recovery and the experiences we carry with us.

Using the metaphor of a suitcase, each workshop invites participants to UNPACK a particular topic — building awareness, understanding what may be happening beneath the surface, reflecting without pressure to disclose, and leaving with practical tools that can be carried forward.

These are psychoeducational workshops, not therapy, and participants are never required to share personal traumatic experiences.

One Signature Workshop. Tailored To Your Setting.

UNPACK is an interactive, trauma-informed learning experience built around one simple idea: we all carry things with us.

Using a suitcase as the central metaphor, participants are guided through a structured process of exploring what we carry as a result of our experiences — the thoughts, beliefs, emotions, behaviours and coping responses that can become packed away with us over time.

Rather than asking people to disclose personal experiences, UNPACK uses psychoeducation, physical resources, creative activities, guided reflection and symbolic exercises to make complex ideas about trauma easier to understand and engage with.

Participants are invited to consider what may need to be unpacked, understood or released, before exploring what they would consciously choose to repack and carry forward.

PART ONE — THE SIGNATURE UNPACK EXPERIENCE

The suitcase stays the same. What is inside it belongs to the participant.

The first half creates psychological safety and introduces the UNPACK framework. Using the suitcase and specially designed workshop materials, participants explore:

What am I carrying? → Where might it come from? → How might it affect me? → What can I unpack? → What do I want to carry forward instead?

This combines trauma education with reflection, practical tools and symbolic release and repacking activities, creating something people can experience rather than simply listen to.

PART TWO — THE BESPOKE DEEP DIVE

This is where UNPACK adapts.

The second half applies the learning to a particular issue, experience or setting. This can be designed around areas such as sexual abuse, domestic abuse, gang involvement and serious violence, PTSD, anger, relationships, self-worth, returning to work, financial confidence or another topic identified by the group or commissioning organisation.

The subject can change while the UNPACK methodology remains consistent.

The topic is bespoke. The UNPACK experience is signature.

Commission an UNPACK Workshop

UNPACK can be adapted for survivors, young people, community groups, frontline professionals and organisations. Tell us about your audience and the issue you would like to explore, and we'll shape the bespoke element around your setting.

Understanding Trauma Beyond Theory

A practical and engaging exploration of trauma, its impact on the brain, body and behaviour, and how professionals can create safer, more effective and compassionate environments for people affected by adversity and trauma.

Delivered by Mayameen Meftahi BEM, Founder and Lead Trauma Specialist at BeyondTrauma Academy CIC and creator of the award-winning BeyondTrauma™ Recovery Programme, this training brings together professional knowledge, lived experience and survivor-informed insight to provide a deeper understanding of trauma and recovery.

Combining lived experience with professional practice, Mayameen offers insight into the realities of trauma, the responses that can sit beneath behaviour and the practical approaches that can support people more effectively.

This training moves beyond theory, helping professionals understand the real-life impact of trauma and how to embed trauma-informed principles into everyday practice.

Understanding Trauma
Develop a clearer understanding of trauma, adversity and the ways traumatic experiences can continue to influence thoughts, emotions, behaviour, relationships and everyday functioning.

The Brain, Body & Survival Response
Explore what happens when the brain and body perceive threat, including the role of adrenaline and survival responses, and why these responses can continue even when immediate danger has passed.

Triggers & Trauma Responses
Understand how obvious and less obvious triggers can activate trauma responses and how these may present through anxiety, avoidance, anger, withdrawal, emotional numbing or other behaviours.

Creating Safer Professional Practice
Explore practical ways professionals and organisations can reduce the risk of further distress, promote emotional and psychological safety and embed trauma-informed principles into everyday interactions and environments.
